Film Friday - Halloween Edition

Posted in , , , , ,
The video this week comes from the band Neon Indian.  This music video for their cyber-track "Polish Girl," off their new album Era Extraña, incorporates light painting to tell the story of a disjointed personal journey.

"Polish Girl" was directed by Tim Nackashi and produced in collaboration between The Creators Project, Neon Indian, and Mom + Pop Music.

This is related to my Halloween because I'm going to be a Polish Future Girl!!! haha ;-) I'm already a polish girl so the futuristic part is just what I need achieve now!  We'll see if I can pull it off.  Add me on my personal facebook --> Adair Nicole to see if I can make it happen! :) I also want to see what everyone else is doing for Halloween!

Animation at it's finest.

Here is a fascinating animation video by Daniel Binns called "Control" - a short film about Panic.

The sharp edges and geometric animation is a unique feature I haven't seen with any cartoon before.  I'd like to see more of this kind of animation by Binns.

Film Friday - MÖBIUS

Posted in ,
Absolutely incredible is this collaborative stop motion sculpture....
Take a look...
MÖBIUS from ENESS on Vimeo.

Twenty-one large triangles animated by Melbourne, throughout Federation Square. MÖBIUS is a sculpture that can be configured into many cyclical patterns and behave as though it is eating itself, whilst sinking into the ground. The result is an optical illusion and a time-lapse of people interacting with the sculpture and moving through Melbourne's landmark location throughout the day. MÖBIUS was animated over two weeks Friday, Saturday & Sunday between the 6th - 20th of May 2011.

I love stop motion film!  Have you seen any good stop motion videos?  If so, please share in a comment below! :)

Colourfornia

First Film Friday of the month brings to you this amazing video directed by Nick Thompson at The Drop Studio for promotion of Summadayze.  I can't exactly figure out what this Summadayze thing is besides that it is based out of Australia.  Does anyone know or can explain to me exactly what is?  Either way, this video rules.

"Süperfad’s latest short film, directed by Nando Costa, explores the connections between science, mathematics and music. Drawings representing a musical score are released into stylized landscapes that illustrate conditions through which sounds travel. These drawn representations react in different ways when traveling through the desolate landscapes, transforming into impossible musical instruments and altering elements in the environment along the way. The film’s structure is defined by World Gang’s music composition, which features classic instruments altered electronically to create the track. Working in a push and pull relationship, the film’s video and audio abstractions unite in an experience that is both otherworldly and rooted in tradition."

As quoted from Zeitguised website, “Zeitguised made a piece in six acts for the opening exhibition at the Zirkel Gallery. It entails six imaginations of disoriented systems that take a catastrophic turn, including the evolution of educational plant-body-machine models and liquid building materials.”

I think the last one is the coolest! Which part did you like the best?

I hope everyone enjoys their Memorial Day Weekend!! :) Up to anything fun?  Please share so I live vicariously through you since I'll be working all weekend. :)

Film Friday

So here's an interesting one for you.
This particular film, Between Bears by Eran Hilleli, was the winner of Best Animation Award at the First Vimeo Film Festival.

I'm not exactly sure what to gather from this.  I was a little thrown off in the beginning when the bear shaves himself and his hair turns into butterflies... but that may just be me. haha  Although, I do think the animation is so very unique and interesting to watch.

The director says this about the story line of this video... "It is a debt to my childhood and other lives I hope I lived. Inspired by words of songs that I admire."

Anyone have any thoughts they would like to share on this?

Artificial Paradise, Inc is an experimental film anticipating a future where a major corporation has developed an unique software, based on organic virtual reality, which holds all the lost memories of humankind. A user connects to this database of the forgotten…what is he searching for?

What kind of thoughts did this video provoke from you?
Or how did it make you feel??

I felt a sense of thrill & adventure with a slight undertone of futuristic creepiness.

Film Friday Easter Edition

Posted in , , ,

Alright!! It's Easter time this weekend people!  I really do enjoy this time of year.  Nice weather, decorating eggs, good candy, especially Peeps! & don't worry... not like those cute little ones above. :)

Here are some videos that are Easter related, but they all aren't kid friendly.  Just a warning!  The second one, isn't for the weak of Easter heart.

This first one is just a short little clip to get us in the spirit!

Now this one is for mature Easter audiences only!!!!

I kinda feel bad for the bunnies but it's so awesome at the same time!

& this one is just fun!! Great innovative commercial from Sony.

Which one did you like the best??
Send in or share any Easter videos you have!
I'd love to see them!

Enjoy your weekend & holiday everyone!  I recommend going to an Easter brunch on Sunday!  I love those.

I'm off for Coachella today!!! I am sooo excited! Since I won't have computer access all weekend, I am posting Film Friday's video today. This video is the official video of the song "The Phoenix" by the very talented band, MONARCHY! They are going to be playing at Coachella this year and one of the bands I'm most looking forward to seeing. They are up & coming with a contemporary sound that has a futuristic feel.

So I leave you with this creatively filmed music video filmed in OUTER SPACE!!! ;-) Hope you enjoy it!

I think the way it was filmed made it unique & interesting.
Did you like this video?
